Cross-border integration and local communities, 2015

Description

In the border area of Istria, a case study (in-depth field research) was carried out among members of the Italian national minority in Slovenian Istria. The purpose of the study was to learn about life. minorities in the border, culturally mixed area of Istria, define the intensity of cross-border contacts along the Slovenian-Croatian border and recognise the role of the minority in maintaining diverse contacts with Slovenia, the role of various media in providing information on minority issues, the envisaged role of the Slovenian border areas and the Slovenian and Italian minorities after Slovenia's accession to the EU, and the expectations of the border of the population regarding the effects of the accession of Slovenia (RS) to the Schengen area and Croatia (RH) to the European Union on the further development of relations between the two countries. At the same time, the same study was carried out among the members of the Italian national minorities in Croatian Istria (see ADP - IDNo survey: ISTRAH15).
