Children's Voices (2012)

Description

The Children's Voices study examines the incidence of ethnic-based violence (language, culture and/or race) among children and adolescents in primary and secondary schools. It covers several forms of peer violence, both physical and psychological, as well as institutional violence, which is reflected in existing legislation, school regulations and elsewhere. The survey conducted in Slovenia was part of an international project carried out simultaneously in five countries: Slovenia, Great Britain (England), Italy, Austria and Cyprus. The general objectives and purpose of the international survey were: recognise the extent and characteristics of inter-ethnic violence; identify shortcomings in the formal legislative, school and other formal frameworks governing the rights of the child; raising public awareness and sensitising the public to inter-ethnic violence; Identifying mechanisms for confronting or preventing ethnic-based violence in primary and secondary schools.
