Eurobarometer 73.5

Description

This Eurobarometer survey exercise comprises standard Eurobarometer indicators such as: the satisfaction of respondents with their current lives and expectations over the next 12 months. Additional questions focused on how respondents would assess the economic, employment or cultural situation in their household or country today and five years ago, which issues the European Union (EU) should address as a matter of priority and whether they had heard of the European Social Fund. Further questions were divided into four main topics: civil justice, development aid, Africa and the EU, and food risk. The first set of questions asks respondents whether they have ever been involved in civil court proceedings, about the main concerns of court proceedings and their knowledge of cross-border and family law. In the next set of questions, respondents identify the two biggest challenges facing developing countries, the importance of helping these countries and whether the EU should increase or reduce aid to developing countries due to the current economic situation. In the third set of questions, respondents identify whether Africa will become a major or less important partner for the EU by 2020, as well as up to the two most important areas of EU-Africa cooperation and the two most important issues for African countries. The last set of questions asks respondents about possible problems or risks associated with eating and the extent to which they are concerned about these risks. The demographic strand includes questions about the respondent’s age, gender, citizenship, marital status, occupation, education, household size, possession of a fixed or mobile phone, financial situation, social situation, Internet use, type and size of settlement, region of residence, and language of the survey.
