Description

The survey includes standard Eurobarometer indicators, such as: how satisfied the respondents are with their current lives, whether they have tried to encourage people close to them to share views on topics on which they have a strong opinion, or have discussed political matters with others, what goals should their country have and if they feel that social change is needed. Additional questions focused on the respondent’s knowledge and opinion about the European Union (EU), including how well they are informed about the EU, whether they believe their country has gained anything from EU membership and what their personal interest in EU affairs is. Further questions asked about the EU’s involvement in different policy areas and the importance of these. there were also questions about European integration, economic growth and trust in EU organisations. The questionnaire consists of 6 large thematic sections: (1) globalisation, (2) personal values and priorities, (3) European identity, (4) the future of the European Union, (5) social problems and prosperity, and (6) European elections. In the first round, respondents were asked about globalisation and its impact on local communities, businesses and the EU. The second group asked about personal values and priorities, and the third asked about their national and European identity. about what are important attributes and elements of their identities and what they mean to them. For the fourth theme, they made their predictions for 2030 on economics, enlargement, social norms and culture. The fifth group asked about social well-being and pensions and the quality of national plans and possible future changes in the programmes. They also answered questions about job opportunities in their country, including whether they consider that highly educated people have difficulty finding jobs. The sixth strand focused on the elections of the European Parliament. the respondents said the reasons for their participation or non-participation in the elections. They also indicated which political issues they considered important: they expressed their attitude towards the elections, their exposure to election campaigns and their sympathy to political parties. The survey covered four other smaller thematic areas: (1) human rights, (2) public authorities, (3) minorities and immigrants and (4) care for the elderly. The demographic strand covered questions about the respondent’s age, gender, nationality, place of birth (respondent’s and respondent’s parents); marital status, occupation, age at completion of education, political self-determination of left-right, status in society, household composition, ownership of a fixed or mobile phone and other durable goods, about the financial situation, the use of the Internet and the quality of life related to health, the region of residence, the type and size of the settlement and the language of the interview.
