Eurobarometer 71.1

Description

This Eurobarometer exercise enquires respondents about standard Eurobarometer indicators, such as: how satisfied they are with their lives, or have discussed political matters with others, on their view of the current economic and employment situation in their own household, in the country, in the European Union and in the world. Additional questions related to their expectations in the following For 12 months, they were asked what problems they had faced both privately and at country level. Additional questions focused on the respondent’s opinion on the European Union (EU), including: if they believe that their country has gained something from EU membership and general questions about the orientation of their country, the EU and the United States of America, and their confidence in certain institutions. Respondents were also asked about the personal financial situation, views on children’s lives today, social exclusion and homelessness, and trust in news media. Questions related to the last parliamentary elections in the respondent’s country and to which political party they support. Another important strand focused on the European Parliament and the elections. Respondents were asked about how well they know the European Parliament, what their impression is about it and how they feel about its role, policies and values. Respondents identified the date of the next European elections, expressed the criteria for choosing a political candidate, the reasons for not participating in the elections and important topics. which the campaign should focus on in the next elections. The third part focused on the economic crisis. Respondents answered questions about the consequences of the economic crisis, expressing an opinion on which government or other entity they consider most capable of coping with the crisis. what is the role of the EU and its Member States in the crisis and if the adoption of the euro has had a positive or negative impact on the economy of their country. They were also asked for an opinion on policies aimed at mitigating the crisis. The fourth chapter concerned climate change. Respondents expressed their views on the importance of climate change in relation to other global problems, expressed their views on the severity of climate change and how strongly informed they feel on this topic. Additional questions were enquired about their knowledge of climate change and measures to combat change. The last major focus was on chemical products. Respondents identified the consumer product. which contains chemicals that harm the user, the limit of risk in the use of certain products and who they trust in protecting against health and environmental hazards. Additional questions related to the knowledge of exposure to chemical agents, whose information sources prefer the respondents to the safe use of products; on the labelling of chemical substances in products and an opinion on whether the manufacturer should be legally liable for damage caused by his products. They were also asked about reading the instructions on the use of products if they dye their hair or use a sunscreen to protect themselves from UV rays and the potential health risks arising from the use of these products. The demographic strand included questions about the respondent’s age, gender, nationality, place of birth (respondent’s and respondent’s parents), marital status, political self-determination to the left-right; occupation, age at completion of education, household composition, ownership of a fixed or mobile phone and other major goods, the type and size of the place of residence and the language of the respondent.
