Description

The research on the positions of deputies on the functioning of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia provides an insight into the positions of deputies regarding some of the fundamental elements of parliamentarism in modern liberal democracies. In this way, the perception of the representation of interests, which is one of the fundamental components of the parliamentary mandate, is observed in more detail, as well as the entire structure of the functioning of the parliament with the functioning of the working bodies at the head. The research also focuses on the inter-institutional balance and relations of the National Assembly with some of the fundamental institutions of the Slovenian political system, as well as on the internal dynamics of parliamentary integration and cooperation and the infrastructural characteristics of parliamentary work. The survey also looks at Members’ interactions with different social groups and political actors. In particular, the research determines how deputies of the National Assembly assess the functioning of this institution during a given term of office, with an emphasis on the implementation of the new Rules of Procedure, and also focuses on the question of how deputies see the role and conditions of the National Assembly's functioning in the terms of Slovenia's membership in the EU, especially in view of the complexity of the functioning of the national parliament.
