COVID-19 and tourism, 2020
Description
The survey offers an understanding of what Slovenians are doing at a historically special moment – right at the beginning of the COVID-19 epidemic. An online survey was conducted for
the time of the first state closure (March-April 2020) and offers an in-depth insight of Slovenians into detecting the threat of COVID-19 in two dimensions: Severity or susceptibility to threats;
how this depends on their demographic characteristics and past travel experiences and how the epidemic has affected their plans to travel in the future. The research follows
theories of so-called fear appeals and analyses the mechanisms of response to the threat: Avoid thinking about a threat and deny the existence of a threat. It includes an analysis of sources of information and
demographic variables.
