Statistics of the technical opinions of the BfR 2009-2014
Description
The figures give an impression of the nature and scope of the BfR’s technical opinions. It is a representation of the OUTPUT. A small number of risk assessments can be more valuable to consumer protection than multiple risk assessments because of their subject matter and scientific quality. The figures therefore do not allow any or only limited inferences to the BfR’s OUTCOME.
The following groups of opinions are distinguished: Group1: Evaluations in legally prescribed procedures, e.g. authorisation procedures with the addressees BVL, BAuA; Group 2: Technical opinions to supervising federal ministries (BMEL, BMUB, BMVI); Group 3: Technical opinions in the framework of international procedures (EU, OECD, WHO) on the evaluation of chemical substances and test methods, e.g. on alternative methods to animal testing; Group4: Responding to scientific requests from EFSA and EFSA Focal Points from other Member States and requests for EFSA’s scientific opinions; Group 5: Other technical opinions to authorities and courts outside legal procedures; Group 6: Other technical opinions, mainly opinions to associations, citizens, NGOs.
The following groups of assessments in legally prescribed procedures can still be distinguished: Group 1a: Assessments under plant protection legislation; Group 1b: Assessment of poisoning cases according to ChemG § 16e; Group1c: Opinions under chemicals legislation (REACH); Group 1d: Biocides assessments; Group1e: Opinions in feed law procedures; Group 1f: Opinions on exceptions to consumer protection provisions in food law, §§ 54 and 68 LFGB; Group1g: Further risk assessments in legally required procedures.
