Description
The Federal Environment Agency operates seven air quality monitoring centres where background pollution, long-distance shipments of air pollutants and trends in air quality are recorded. The report shows the results of the measurements in 2015 and the development of the last 20 years. The limit values for particulate matter, nitrogen dioxide, nitrogen oxides, sulphur dioxide and carbon monoxide as well as for heavy metals and benzo(a)pyrene were complied with at all measuring points. In the case of ozone, the target values for the protection of human health were exceeded at all measuring points, those for the protection of vegetation at all measuring points except for chub soil. The information threshold was exceeded in Enzenkirchen, Illmitz and Pillersdorf. Despite a long-term decreasing trend, compliance with the target values is not foreseeable in the coming years.
