Description
This GIS dataset contains point features representing priority abandoned uranium mines in Navajo Nation, as determined by the USEPA and the Navajo Nation. USEPA and NNEPA prioritized mines based on gamma radiation levels, proximity to homes and potential for water contamination identified in the preliminary assessments. Attributes include Mine names, AUM region, reclaimed status, and links to USEPA reports. This dataset contains 523 features.
As of June 2021, Phase 2 Trust mines were updated and Wilbur Sells Nos. 4A and 5A was removed due to its status as a "site of interest" rather than a mine.
