Annual report of air quality measurements in Austria 2014
Description
The report provides an overview of the air quality situation in Austria in 2014; It is based on the measurements of the offices of the state governments and the Federal Environment Agency. In 2014, numerous exceedances of the limit values for nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and the target values for ozone were registered, occasionally also for particulate matter (PM10), nitrogen oxides, sulphur dioxide, benzo(a)pyrene and dust precipitation. The limit and target values for carbon monoxide, PM2.5, lead, arsenic, cadmium and nickel in PM10 and for benzene were met. Limit value exceedances for NO2 occurred mainly on busy roads, for particulate matter mainly in Styria, Linz and Vienna. For almost all pollutants, 2014 was very low compared to previous years, mainly due to the warm winter and frequent snow and rainfall in the south.
