Surface Water Quality Indicators: Total phosphorus content in lakes (2021)
Description
The increase in phosphorus in the medium, like that of other nutrients, can be used to assess water quality, and is measured periodically as it triggers eutrophy processes. The boundary value used for the total phosphorus index is the value of the limit set in the RDSE between the good and moderate status for each type of lake. The typologies without legal limit established in the RDSE have been recorded as “No Valuation”. In addition, a fourth category is included for cases where the LQ of the analytical value of total phosphorus is higher than the boundary value B/M. In this case the station “Cannot be evaluated”.
This analysis considered all the total phosphorus substances analysed under the Monitoring Programmes (monitoring and operational control programme) intended to assess the status, in compliance with state and European regulations, of which information is available in NABIA (System of Exchange of Information on the Status and Quality of Waters).
