Description
The term geologic values is used as a collective term for geomorphological, geological, soil or geohydrological phenomena in the landscape, which represent a certain value. It is not only about the preservation and experience of historical phenomena. Meaning is also attached to current processes, which yield geological values. At various places in Groningen there are clear differences in height (half a meter and more) in the landscape. The view of this relief is mainly characteristic of the Hondsrug, Westerwolde (Holte, Tichelberg, Hasseberg, Alteveer) and the glacial ridges at Blauwestad and Zuidhorn. This view can be lost due to new buildings and plants. In addition, excavations for large-scale projects pose a threat to the relief. To protect the glacial spines, rules are included in the provincial environmental ordinance. Rules have also been included for the protection of the view of the relief of Westerwolde. This dataset is partly included in the Provincial Environmental Vision 2016-2020 and the Environmental Ordinance 2016. We expect municipalities to record the other relief of, among other things, deck sand ridges, inversion ridges and natural strata associated with watercourses in their zoning plans. This file gives an indication of the geological value on the basis of rarity, integrity, representativeness, visibility, scientific and educational value, (inter)national/provincial/regional significance. With a new AHN3, the file needs to be modified.
