Buffer

Description

Track buffers are installed at the end of the track to prevent rolling stock from accidentally colliding over the end of the track. The track buffers are divided into fixed, sliding and hydraulic. The aim is to use sliding or hydraulic track buffers on tracks where repeated breakage of fixed track buffers is expected or detected, as well as on tracks where significant damage may result from the breakage (personal injuries, VAK transports). The buffer shall indicate the date of entry into service, the type, the manufacturer, the name, the owner and the location on the network. The data cover railways owned by the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency. The data source system is the Track Object Management Application (RATKO) of the Track Infrastructure Information Management System. The material is updated once a week.
