The Norwegian Mapping Authority’s historical map is both part of the agency’s own archive from its inception in 1773, and collection based on other actors’ mapping from as early as the 17th century. Historical maps can be useful for historians, geologists and other fields related to demographics, administrative boundaries and place names.
