Monitoring of habitat types and species of Community importance in Austria 2016 - 2018 and preparation of the basis for the report pursuant to Article 17 of the Habitats Directive in 2019. Final report. Short version.
Description
Every six years, the European Union and its Member States shall draw up a report on the state of habitat types and species of Community interest in accordance with Article 17 of the Habitats Directive. The present report provides an overview of the Austrian monitoring of 31 habitat types and 38 species on almost 5,000 study sites. The evaluation results for 71 habitat types and 211 species for the period 2013-2018 are also presented. Almost one-fifth of habitat types and one-seventh of species are in favourable conservation status. Compared to the three reporting periods, the status of 70% of species and 80% of habitat types remained unchanged between 2000 and 2018. Only 3% of habitat types and 10% of species improved their conservation status.
