Soils worthy of protection in Lower Saxony 1: 50000 – Soils of Natural History (WFS Service)
Description
Soils that are particularly worthy of protection include soils whose natural functions and their archiving function are essentially preserved. Impairments of these functions should be avoided under soil protection law (cf. §1 BBodSchG). Soils with a natural history or geoscientific significance provide insight into soil developments of earlier epochs and thus provide information on climate or vegetation conditions of the past. The methods for determining the protection of soils in Lower Saxony are detailed in Bug et al. (2019) described. The basis of the evaluations are the soil map of Lower Saxony 1: 50000 (BK50) and the Digital Landscape Model (DLM25) from LGLN.
