Kordon Survey Vienna 2022 – Vienna
Description
As the [Cordon Survey 2020+](https://resolver.obvsg.at/urn:nbn:at:AT-WBR-1248386) does not allow generally valid statements due to the coronavirus pandemic, Vienna and Lower Austria commissioned the 2022 Kordon Survey. This provides comprehensive results on urban transport at the reference date autumn 2022 and thus represents an important basis for the mobility concepts of the Länder, but also of the federal government. The current count shows pleasing changes. In view of a population growth of 14.3 % in Vienna and the city region of Vienna by 11.1 %, a decoupling of the population growth from the increase in traffic can be observed.
On an average working day in October 2022, 617.000 people cross the city border inwards.
Of these, 77 % in passenger cars and 23 % in public transport, while between 5h and 9h 29 % use public transport.
In comparison, the Viennese women only use the car for 26 % of the routes in Vienna, while almost 3/4 of them are in the environmental network (Viennese Lines Traffic Survey 2022).
In 2022, with an increase of 28.5 %, the public authorities transported significantly more people at the city border than in 2010.
Car traffic, on the other hand, only increased by around 5 %.
The section with the highest share of public transport of almost 43 % is that direction St. Pölten.
The volume of passenger traffic by rail doubled between 2009-2022.
With one third of the total traffic volume, most people travel across the southern city border.
There are challenges in the Gänserndorf corridor as well as in transit traffic.
Methodologically, the collection was carried out in the form of data synthesis of digital data, of which mobile phone data is an essential pillar.
