YSA – General Finnish vocabulary
Description
The General Finnish Thesaurus (YSA) is a monolingual general vocabulary covering all fields of science and knowledge, compiling the most common terminology in different fields.
The general Finnish vocabulary is intended to be used for indexing books, articles, electronic materials and other data types as well as for information retrieval. The glossary helps data savers and data seekers use a common language. It is also intended to serve as a basic vocabulary in the preparation of specialised vocabulary in different fields.
The vocabulary has been prepared in accordance with the guidelines for drafting and maintaining the Finnish thesaurus (SFS 5471).
YSA’s development was discontinued in May 2019. The new terms will then be added only to the General Finnish ontology YSO.
