WFS - Saxon floodplain program
Description
The Saxon floodplain programme aims to take a holistic view of the natural flood plains of rivers wherever possible. In the floodplain programme, gradually selected, suitable river sections are to be reconnected to their natural floodplains. In the interests of flood prevention and floodplain ecology, this is intended to enable a near-natural aquatic dynamic of flooding and drought trapping of the aquatic areas. Polygon geometries to the floodplain potential areas and point geometries to the projects with linking floodplain profiles. The selection of priority areas for nature conservation with regard to the conservation or development of floodplains was carried out by the LfULG. Furthermore, water sections were taken into account, where variants were considered within the framework of the flood protection concepts, which include a restoration of natural flood areas. The decisive factor for the selection was that floodplain development appears feasible from a water management point of view. A final assessment of the individual potential areas can only be made through more detailed investigations and planning.
