Explanation: There is currently no standard for Barium (former intervention value = 920 mg/kg dry matter). The presence of barium in the soil can be both natural and anthropogenic.
Barium has various industrial applications, for example it is used in other countries for shale gas extraction. The exact impact on public health has been limited (see Envir. Geochem. Health: Kravenchenko et al., 2014). Consequences include heart and kidney disease.
