Standardized classification of conservation actions

Description

The Ministry of the Environment, the Fight against Climate Change, Wildlife and Parks has developed classification tools in order to improve the monitoring of populations identified at the [Quebec Natural Heritage Data Center (CDPNQ)] (https://www.quebec.ca/gouvernement/gouvernement-ouvert/transparence-performance/indicateurs-statistiques/donnees-especes-situation-precaire). These tools make it possible to better document: 1. the threats that affect them, thanks to the [*Standardized classification of threats affecting biodiversity*] (https://mffp.gouv.qc.ca/nos-publications/classification-biodiversite-menaces/) published in 2021 2. the conservation actions carried out to mitigate their impacts, thanks to the present *Standardized classification of conservation actions*. Since the level of precision of internationally recognized classifications does not make it possible to effectively target issues affecting populations, the Department has developed a more accurate classification with numerous partners. This made it possible to refine the international classifications in a concerted manner into a practical tool. The actions are organized in a hierarchical manner, gradually moving from more generic labels to more precise descriptions. Where relevant, entries are accompanied by a description, specifications (inclusions and exclusions), and may be followed by examples. This classification is intended for government partners, conservation organizations and other actors who wish to structure the monitoring of their initiatives aimed at the conservation of biodiversity. An accompanying document that describes how it works is also [available online] (https://cdn-contenu.quebec.ca/cdn-contenu/faune/documents/precaire/classification-standardisee-actions-conservation.pdf). The development of the*Standardized Classification of Conservation Actions* was possible thanks to the contribution of numerous professionals and technicians working in the field of fauna and flora conservation. ### #Documentation MINISTRY OF THE ENVIRONMENT, THE FIGHT AGAINST CLIMATE CHANGE, WILDLIFE AND PARKS (2024). *Standardized classification of conservation actions — Accompanying document, * Government of Quebec, Quebec, 10 p.
