AN 9 - Establishment of Field Bird Islands (Kiebitzinseln)
Description
The chick likes to breed in low vegetation on temporarily soaked soils. Field bird islands not only serve as breeding grounds for the chick and other field bird species, but are also an important food and cover habitat for its young birds.
The support is based on areas in Lower Saxony populated by meadow limicoli, which are subject to agricultural arable use. Land use data were used on the basis of data from ATKIS (2017) and on the basis of agricultural field blocks (as of 2021).
The data are based on current breeding occurrences of meadow limicolae from the results of the meadow bird monitoring (2014-2021), the nationwide Kiebitz- und Uferschnepfenerfassung 2020, the SPA monitoring as well as other available data, such as the nesting and chick protection projects.
