Acid sulphate soil (display service)
Description
The display service ‘Sur sulphate soil’ shows where acidic sulphate soils may be found along the coasts of Västernorrland, Västerbotten and Norrbotten. The information can be used to identify areas where it is important to avoid land use that could lead to negative impacts from acid sulphate soils or where it is appropriate to take measures to reduce environmental pressures from soils.
‘Acid sulphate soil’ consists of a surface-covering modelling and collected point observations of acid sulphate soil. The modelled map shows the likely distribution of acid sulphate soil. The point observations come from mapping and sampling of acid sulphate soil carried out in various projects at SGU. The classes of the surface-covering model are ‘Non-acid sulphate soil’, ‘Active acid sulphate soil on potential acid sulphate soil’ and ‘Potential acid sulphate soil’.
