Sampling with towed video system (HATE/Politolana) in Campaign INTEMARES-COLCARTO_0221
Description
The information contained in this data set corresponds to the samplings carried out with the towed video systems HATE_BOX (HAbitat Transect Evaluation) and Politolana during the INTEMARES-COLCARTO_0221 campaign, in the waters of the Levantine-Balearic demarcation. The objective of sampling is the classification of benthic communities for subsequent mapping.
This is the representation of the spatial distribution of the lines in which video transects were made with the HATE_BOX and Politolana towed video systems.
The area comprising the data provided is located in waters around the Columbretes Islands. In total, 49 sampling transects were carried out, 43 with the Politolana system and 6 with the HATE_BOX system between 35 and 95 meters deep, approximately.
This information is composed of a data set formed by linear elements, where each line represents the situation of the sampling transects where data were taken.
The preparation of this set of geographical information began in 2021, thanks to the oceanographic campaign INTEMARES-COLCARTO_0221.
The geographical information collected is stored in a spatial database.
These works have been financed thanks to the LIFE IP INTEMARES Project (LIFE-IP INTEMARES - Integrated, Innovative and Participatory Management for N2000 network in the Marine Environment - LIFE15 IPE/ES/000012). This integrated project has the challenge of laying the foundations to effectively manage the marine areas of the Natura 2000 Network and complete the work and progress promoted within the framework of the LIFE + INDEMARES project, which managed to take a great step in terms of declaring new areas.
