Austria’s Annual Air Emission Inventory 1990-2007
Description
In the report ‘Austria’s Annual Air Emission Inventory 1990 – 2007’, the Federal Environment Agency presents the development of air pollutants for which national emission ceilings (NECs) are set for 2010. The basis for this is the NEC Directive (Directive 2001/81/EC), which has been transposed into national law with the Emissions Ceilings Act for Air (BGBl. I No 34/2003). The results of the Austrian Air Pollution Inventory show a significant decrease of 11.6% for SO2 and 3.6% for volatile hydrocarbons without methane (NMVOC) between 2006 and 2007. Nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions decreased by 2.0% between 2006 and 2007. Ammonia emissions (NH3) increased over the same period (+0.7%). In 2007, SO2 has already fallen below the 2010 national emission ceilings and emissions of NH3 are close to the target. Emissions of NMVOC and NOx are still significantly higher in 2007.
