Map of possible soil and groundwater pollution in Braunschweig
Description
This map shows areas in Braunschweig that may have soil or groundwater pollution. In order to represent such areas, known polluted areas - such as the floodplains of the Oker - were collected and partly surrounded by buffer zones. Because pollutants can be very mobile in the underground and spread. This does not necessarily mean that the areas marked on the map are actually polluted, but contamination is conceivable. The map reproduces the findings known to the city of Braunschweig in December 2010. Further information (for a fee) can be obtained from the Department of Environmental Protection of the City of Braunschweig. For this purpose, the consent of the respective property owner must be proven.
