Representation service of NUTS zones 1:250 000 as at 31.12.
For the territory of the Federal Republic of Germany, the database includes the regions of the classification of territorial units (NUTS — Nomenclature des unités territoriales statistiques) for the purposes of European statistics.
The NUTS regions are hierarchically structured, divided into three levels and are based on administrative units for Germany with few exceptions.
— NUTS1 level in Germany: Countries
— NUTS2 level in Germany: i. W. administrative districts
— NUTS3 level in Germany: district-free cities and counties
In addition to the current administrative districts, the former administrative districts of the Länder Lower Saxony, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saxony are also designated at NUTS 2 level. In national language, this NUTS 2 classification is also referred to as “statistical regions”. The geometry is derived from the respective database of the corresponding administrative areas (VG). Thus, in terms of accuracy and resolution, the geometry is aligned with the corresponding Digital Landscape Model (DLM) analogous to the administrative areas (VG).
The data are grouped flat (NUTS1, NUTS2 and NUTS3) and the areas contained are directly linked to the attributive information. Scale: 1:250000
