Federal Franc Districts (FR)
Description
Federal hunting ban areas have been around since 1875. They served the purpose of raising the stocks of chamois, red deer and deer, as well as ibex (shell game), which at the time had become rare because of hunting and competition from cattle. On 1 April 1988, the Federal Law on the hunting and protection of wild mammals and birds was put into effect (NHG, 20 June 1986). This also introduced the revision of the 1962 Ordinance on the Banned Territories. Today, they aim to regulate the populations of deer, deer, chamois and ibex, as well as the protection and promotion of rare species and their habitats. Between 1993 and 2003 individual objects were adjusted slightly, in 2004 (with addendum 2005) a revision of the Federal Inventory took into account various applications from the cantons. The objects (protected areas) are divided into 2 protection categories and one wild damage perimeter.
