WFS Accessibility of Larger Urban Green Spaces
Description
The indicator describes the accessibility of public green spaces (larger than 10 ha), as measured by the population living indirectly within walking distance in relation to the total population of the city (central and large cities from 50.000 inhabitants). The indicator determines the proportion of the population that can be found close to or indirectly within walking distance of public green spaces. Green spaces are multifunctional and are of great importance for the surrounding population due to their climate function (air filtration, cold air generation), recreation function (sports, leisure, nature experience) and flood protection function (water storage, retention area). The indicator addresses extensive leisure activities in the indirect neighbourhood environment or local recreation at weekends.
