Description

The study room is located in an area that has been and will be demonstrably influenced by the existing industry. Particularly in the past, heavy metals reached the topsoils via the air path. As these substances do not degrade, elevated levels, especially of arsenic and copper, can still be found today. Starting in 2001, on the basis of the Federal Soil Protection Act (BBodSchG), all existing soil data in Hamburg's southeast were collected and merged. Only data from sampling points were analysed to ensure that contamination of the topsoil is not attributable to ‘contaminated sites, harmful soil changes, sites suspected of being contaminated or suspected sites’. The published data include the arsenic and heavy metal contents contained in the 500 x 500 m grid. There may be multiple records or none at all in this grid. Empty tiles mean there is no data.
