Areas of use for hydrothermal heat generation

Description

The topic provides an overview of the suitability of areas for heat generation using hydrothermal geothermal energy. Areas with favourable and possibly less favourable (usually additional heat pump use required) geological conditions are distinguished. According to current knowledge, the greatest potential for hydrothermal heat generation lies in the Malm of the Molasse Basin in southern Germany. The areas of use are based on a blending of temperature maps of different depth levels with the depth position of the Purbeck or Malm surface (limit criteria 40 and 70°C respectively). The geometries of the areas of use are generalized and designed for a scale of 1:250,000. The dataset provides a basis for large-scale considerations and does not replace the carrying out of detailed investigations.
