Administrative units – historical versions

Description

The data series contains historical versions of administrative units and includes municipal and county divisions in the country with the most accurate limits recorded digitally and that are collected in one dataset. The municipalities are bounded by national border, territorial border, delimitation line at sea, county border and municipal border. The counties are bounded by national border, territorial border, demarcation line at sea and county border. In addition, the dataset contains baseline and 1 nautical mile, which are legal lines off the coast. The units contain properties that tell about official municipality. and county numbers. The official Norwegian and Sami names for counties are taken from the SSR. The geometry is derived from the matrix, which is updated by the municipalities. National borders and territorial borders have been added from the Norwegian Mapping Authority’s own established files.
