We protect Austria’s natural heritage The importance of Austria’s national parks for the protection, conservation and management of endangered, endemic and subendemic species and habitats

In cooperation with scientists from the University of Vienna, the Federal Environment Agency has collected the contribution of Austrian national parks to the protection of biodiversity in Austria. The summary shows what proportions of the endmites, vertebrate species, plant species and FFH habitats occur in the national parks. Conversely, it can also be shown which species are not subject to national park protection.
On the basis of the binding of species of selected groups to certain wilderness-determining habitat characteristics and characteristics, the relevance of process protection in the conservation of species was investigated.
