Dynamic forest climate levels for the period 1971 to 2000
Description
The geodata visualize the dynamic climate structure of forest site exploration in the Free State of Saxony. The Dynamic Climate Levels were developed on the basis of the 30-year climate period 1971-2000 in the Competence Center for Forestry and Forestry at the State Enterprise Sachsenforst. The dynamic climate classification is based on the length of the forest vegetation period (= number of days >10 °C) and the climatic water balance within this period and can also map future climate changes via these parameters.
The dynamic climate levels can be further spatially subdivided on the basis of the altitude levels. This is used in particular in the low mountain ranges at climate level II in order to be able to differentiate them more closely according to the forestry requirements. Here, weather events during vegetation dormancy (snow heights, longer and more intense frost periods) are the main reason for further differentiation into higher mountain areas (Hf) and medium mountain areas (Mf).
