Genome Editing - Final Report Definition and Open Questions from an Environmental Perspective
Description
Genome editing is currently being intensively discussed at national and international level. This concerns, among other things, the legal classification of the products produced with it and the assessment of their risks. This report gives an overview of the different techniques of genome editing and the changes in the genome that can be generated with it. A proposal for a definition of genome editing is also presented. In the second part of the report, open questions arising from the discussion on a possible change in legal regulation are highlighted. This includes a presentation of relevant scenarios and their respective consequences and a discussion of open questions in the areas of risk assessment and the precautionary principle. Corresponding need for action is shown.
