Suspicious area cadastre and contaminated site atlas Status: 1 January 2012
Description
This report provides an overview of the status of the recording of old deposits and old sites and the processing of these recorded areas in the context of the implementation of the Remediation of Contaminated Sites Act. The processing essentially includes the investigation of suspected areas and the assessment of the environmental hazard that arises or can arise from old deposits and old sites. In addition, the report provides an overview of the status of the remediation of contaminated sites. The report is based on all information on old deposits and old sites that were known to the Federal Environment Agency as of 1 January 2012. The number of suspected sites has fallen by 110 compared to the previous year. In 2011, three new contaminated sites were identified, a total of 259 contaminated sites are currently known. The number of contaminated sites rehabilitated or secured increased by eight.
