Territorial assistance: Residential rehabilitation assistance

Description

Residential rehabilitation assistance in the Autonomous Province of Bolzano is provided by the Salus Center Therapeutic Center in Prissiano. Pursuant to Article 26 of Law No 833/78, this establishment guarantees, through the agreement with the provincial health districts, the provision of rehabilitation benefits under a hospitalisation scheme. Rehabilitation is aimed at patients suffering from cardiological (768 hospitalizations), respiratory (88), oncological (79), musculoskeletal (1.379) and nervous system (74) diseases, who have maintained sufficient autonomy. The total number of beds contracted for this type of rehabilitation assistance in 2015 amounted to 114 units, of which 4 for day care. A total of 2,388 hospitalisations were provided in 2015 (+1.5% compared to 2014 – Table 4.3.1). 51.2% of the patients are resident in the health district of Bolzano, 38.9% from that of Merano; residents of Bruneck and Brixen account for 6.3% and 3.6% respectively of the total number of patients treated in the facility (Table 4.3.2). In addition to the Salus Center, the Bad Bachgart Rehabilitation Center also operates in the province, a public garrison of the Bressanone Health District. The Bad Bachgart Therapeutic Center has 65 beds, and has as its relevance the intensive and comprehensive residential care of various addiction problems and / or psychological and psychosomatic disorders. The "addiction" area is dedicated to the residential treatment of problems of alcohol or drug addiction, combined addiction and/or gambling addiction. The duration of treatments is about 8 weeks. The "psychosomatic/psychotherapy" area is aimed at patients with eating disorders, anxiety disorders, obsessive compulsive disorders, affective disorders and others. The duration of treatment for this type of patients is 6-8 weeks, however, adapting to the individual needs of individual patients. A total of 390 admissions were recorded in 2015 (Table 4.3.3). Bad Bachgart provides hospitalizations / rehabilitation activities both for patients residing in our Province and for non-resident patients (in Italy or abroad).
