Description
The Federal Environment Agency operates eight air quality monitoring centres at which background pollution, long-distance shipments of air pollutants and trends in air quality are recorded. The report shows the results of the measurements in 2010 and the development of the last 20 years. The limit value for particulate matter (PM10) in accordance with the German Air Pollution Control Act (Immissionsschutzgesetz-Luft) was exceeded in 2010 in Illmitz, Klöch and Pillersdorf. The other limit values were complied with. The target value for ozone for the protection of vegetation was exceeded at all measuring points, the target value for the protection of human health in Illmitz, Vorhegg and Zöbelboden. The information threshold was exceeded in one day in Illmitz. In a long-term comparison, 2010 showed a very high exposure to nitrogen dioxide, an above-average exposure to PM10, but a below-average exposure to ozone.
