Description
This table contains data on the rates of the water board charges.
Water boards impose these taxes in order to pay for their work.
The main tasks are flood defences (flood prevention), water management (care for the right water level for agriculture, nature, residents) and care for water quality. Some water boards also manage roads and waterways.
The water authorities impose the water system charge, road management levy and non-task tax on four categories of tax liability: residents, building owners, land owners (unbuilt) and owners of nature reserves. A water board can choose to set a separate road fee or to pay the costs of laying and maintenance from the water system charge. The same applies to the non-task-related levy.
Water boards can apply tariff differentiation. This means that a water board can use different rates for, for example, outdoor and inner dike areas for the same levy. In the table there is an average rate. In order to calculate the average rate, the total revenue is divided by the total number of units on which the levy is levied.
The data in the table come from the budgets adopted by the water boards prior to the year under review.

Figures for the current year will be published in February/March and the previous year’s figures will become final.
