Germany - Elbe / Dessau / Arneburg - Flood situation on 8/9 June 2013 - Change analysis - Overview - P24

Description

Continued rainfall in recent days has led to heavy flooding in large parts of Germany. The local forces are supported by the Federal Police, the Bundeswehr and the Technische Hilfswerk. The situation on the Elbe is still very tense. The levels shown in the map were recorded at the time of recording the TerraSAR-X scene (19:01 CET). The map shows the change in the water surface of the Elbe in the area of Dessau / Arneburg between 08 June (07:40 CET, derived from a RADARSAT-2 scene) and 09 June (19:01 CET, derived from a TerraSAR-X scene) 2013. Furthermore, the map outlines of the detailed maps (P26/P27) are shown. RapidEye data with a spatial resolution of 20 meters serve as a background image. Please note that the flood situation in urban areas, under vegetation cover and in areas with steep gradients may not be fully captured due to radar geometry. This product was created within the framework contract “ZKI-DE” between the Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI) and the German Aerospace Center (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt; DLR).
