Description
File with unicorns in Fryslân. A duck cage consists of a pond, the so-called cage pond, with one or more winding, narrow truncated locks, called catch pipes, surrounded by reed screens. With the help of tame ducks (stal ducks) or tales, wild ducks, servings and tales were lured to the cage pond and then caught in the catch pipes.
The high up cage forests around the cage ponds form a striking element in the open Frisian landscape.
