Limnological studies, survey of amphibious densities and catches of the Elcorices (Phoxinus phoxinus) in the Sulzkar Sea 2019-2021
Description
After Sulzkarsee was pumped dry in autumn 2018, more than 12000 minnows were caught with different fishing gear. Purse was the most efficient and gentle method of capture. Eliminating alien minnows is not possible by intensive fishing. More than 3000 adult common toads visited the lake for reproduction. Less than 200 egg clutches of common frogs were recorded. Alpine Newts seemed to avoid the lake. The lake was stratified into autumn. Mixing occurred in October.
Since the desolation of Lake Sulzkar in autumn 2018, more than 12,000 Elritzes have been caught using various fishing methods. The most efficient and gentle was catching with shoreline nets. An elimination of the Elrice stock by intensive fishing is not possible. More than 3,000 adult toads came to the lake for littering. Fewer than 200 spawning bales could be counted of the grass frogs. Mountain melts seem to avoid the lake. The lake was clearly stratified until autumn and was mixed only in October.
