Emergency sites for soil remediation.
Preliminary note: This map layer concerns the progress of the project emergency locations. For environmental analyses, however, we recommend keeping the soil data of the environmental services. This is more complete and up-to-date.
This map layer is an overview of the serious soil contaminations where unacceptable risks have been demonstrated. These locations will be rehabilitated as a matter of priority (emergency).
The ‘approach to emergency locations’ is a project carried out under the direction of the Province. This map layer shows the emergency locations for which the province has the authority within the framework of the Soil Protection Act (from 1-1-2024 this is covered by the Transitional Environmental Act);
The competent authority area concerns the province of ZH with the exception of the municipalities of Rotterdam, Leiden, Schiedam, Dordrecht and The Hague; These municipalities themselves are competent authorities.
The decision to prioritise the remediation of contaminated soil (emergency) is taken on the basis of a risk assessment and the current function and use of the site.
Three types of risks are determinative, risks for:
de mens (humane risico’s)
de dieren en planten (ecologische risico’s)
de snelheid van verspreiding van de verontreiniging met het grondwater (verspreidingsrisico).
If a site presents unacceptable risks, it is defined in the soil remediation policy as an emergency site. For most locations, third parties are committed to the approach.
