This table provides data by school year on school region, type of education and age of pupils attending primary education (primary, special primary or special school).
Data available from: 2000/'01.
The figures up to and including school year 2022/'23 are final and the figures for school year 2023/'24 are provisional.
Changes as of 12 April 2024:
The final figures for school year 2022/'23 and the provisional figures for school year 2023/'24 have been added.
As of the reporting year 2016, CBS no longer publishes data on city regions and metropolitan agglomerations. Due to various social developments, the philosophy and method that underpinned the demarcation are no longer relevant. The figures for the school years 2000/'01 to 2016/'17 of this table with data on the city regions and metropolitan agglomerations can still be requested from our information service as a customization.
When will there be new figures?
In the second quarter of 2025, the final figures for the 2023/'24 school year and the provisional figures for the 2024/'25 school year will become available.
