City of Gelsenkirchen: Urban biotope mapping
Description
The urban biotope mapping Gelsenkirchen documents the biotopes (= habitats) and usage types that occur throughout the city area. Built-up, intensively used (industrial/commercial or residential) areas were recorded by means of usage type mapping. For higher or potentially rich areas, a differentiated biotope type key is used. The continuous update is currently cost-neutral through cooperation agreements with investors and expert offices, to whom the data is made available digitally free of charge in return for project-related purposes.
