Description
The Prussian Geological Institute carried out the first overall geological survey of the area of the present state of Berlin on a scale of 1:25 000 (GK25) in the years 1878 to 1883. Further works, usually the second edition, appeared in the years 1899 to 1937 and is presented here.
The geological map provides information on the distribution, nature and sequence of rocks up to a depth of two meters below the terrain surface.
In each geological unit, petrography is characterised by enrolments and signatures as well as age position by enrollments and colors.
