EU bird sanctuary "Niedersächsische Mittelelbe"
Description
The EU bird sanctuary "Niedersächsische Mittelelbe" is 34,028 hectares and covers almost two thirds of the area of the biosphere reserve (see text map 5). In relation to the boundaries of the ‘Niedersächsische Elbtalaue’ biosphere reserve, 71% of these lie in the Lüneburg district and 29% in the Lüchow-Dannenberg district. 29 breeding bird species and 41 migratory bird species determine the value of the area (NElbtBRG, Annex 3).
