Proximity facilities; distance location, neighborhood and neighborhood figures 2017
Description
This table contains figures on average travel distances for residents of the Netherlands from their home address to the nearest facilities (e.g. school, general practitioner or library) for 2017. The table also includes figures on the number of facilities located within a certain distance from the home address. This data is calculated as an average for all persons in the area.
The data are available per municipality at district and neighbourhood level, as of 1 January.

As of the 2017 reporting year, the methodology for calculating the proximity of green has changed: among other things, only facilities with a minimum area of 1 hectare are counted. For the whole of the Netherlands, on average, this method change makes almost no difference: compared to 2015, the distance to green increases by 0.1 km. But at local level (especially on the Wadden Islands) the differences can sometimes reach a few tens of kilometers.
