Residential accessibility on foot 2014
Description
The residents' accessibility of the Turku city region by walking along the pedestrian and bicycle network as well as the road and street network. Accessibility is calculated as an exponential distance function of the average distance travelled, weighted by population density. The analysis was carried out using the OpenStreetMap road network and the grid data from the Urban Structure Monitoring System (YKR) in 2011. Speeds for each type of road have been defined for the road network, and the population density has been retrieved from the grid data.
